The Canyon Lake Softball team might have lost the game last Saturday, but their fans won the Tailgate.
It started on Friday night before the playoffs started, when walking to the game you would see the Hawk Flags and the group of students enjoying the pre/game festivities. The senior players talked about leaving a legacy and the students would like to start a tradition.

The Canyon Lake Hawks hit a buzz saw in their first play-off try against Lampasas Badgers, losing two games, April 29-30.
A little history first: Lampasas was undefeated in district last season in 4A with the same team. The difference was their pitcher quitting before the season started. The season had a learning curve for a team that had played together since their eight grade year.
The Hawks do have seniors, but most of the team is Sophomore ladened and the difference in those two years was very pronounced.
The first game was a ‘comedy’ of errors as Canyon Lake allowed the first four Badgers to reach base via a miscue. When the carnage was over Lampasas had accumulated five base runners by errors, three singles, two walks, and a double. Read the rest here »

First Game: April 29th 7:00pm @ Canyon Lake
Second Game: April 30th 3:00pm @ Lampasas
Third Game: April 30th 6:00pm (if necessary)
The best of three series with the Lampasas Badgers (20-11) will start this Friday and Saturday. As is always the case, the Hawks will be facing a team that has been around with several skins on the wall.

The Canyon Lake Hawks have been in a funk the past few weeks and now is the time to draw the line in the sand.
You remember the scene in The Alamo, when Colonel Travis drew a line in the sand to find out who would stay and fight.

Coming to a Canyon Lake baseball game is better than going to the movies. It is entertainment galore, in the Press Box you will get more than just a player’s name.
Mike Nelson is finishing another year behind the ‘mike’ and the job is not just someone telling you who is coming to the plate.
Nelson puts hours of work into his craft. The foul ball hitting glass? Mike has a certain time frame on when the button is punched and the audience is hearing the glass breaking. Read the rest here »
The Canyon Lake Hawks finished the regular season in second place after beating Navarro, 8-4 last Thursday at the Hawk Diamond.
The Wimberley Texan loss to Bandera gave the Hawks sole position of the highest finish for any team sport in the short history for CLHS. The spot in district will pit the Hawks against Lampasas, the third place finisher in District 25-3A.
The Prom King, Garrett Hawkins, sat in the stands the entire game telling every Hawk batter that he and the fans loved them. It became a saying that most of the student section made a habit of yelling when a Hawk batter, any batter, came to the plate. Read the rest here »
Second Baseman Alex Henderson
One of the most improved players this season is second baseman Alex Henderson. Henderson leads the team with a .385 batting and .912 fielding percentage.
Alex’s confidence coming to the plate is not hard to see. She bats first in the lineup, which allows her to set the table for the other players to score runs.
Henderson’s on base percentage is just what Coach Gallagher wants in a lead off hitter. She has jets for shoes and is successful with a .443% rate. Read the rest here »
