Canyon Lake improved their district record to 5-3 with a win over Wimberley to put themselves in position for the playoffs.
The Hawks were cruising with a three run lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning when the Texans came storming back to tie the score.
The first four players reached base for Wimberley in the fifth with two singles a double and fielders choice. The third run came home off a sacrifice fly and the momentum seemed to be with the home team.
The Hawks answered in the top of the sixth inning when McKenna Beseda singled with two outs. Beseda has been on a tear the past couple of weeks raising her batting percentage over .200 points to a lofty .360 for the season. Read the rest here »

Coaches Corner: Track Coach Levi Montgomery
ReSporter: “How is the team looking going into this week’s District 26-3A Meet? Mentally? And Physically?”
Coach Montgomery: “Our boys are ready. They have worked really hard since we started practicing in February, and at this point are simply anxious to compete at district. Physically we are healthy as a team, and we expect to run the best we have all season over in Wimberley.”

The Canyon Lake Softball team lost another close game to Bulldogs on the road last Tuesday night at Bandera.
Bandera is in first place in the District 26-3A race and two of their wins have come in games against the Hawks by the slimmest of margins.
The Hawks tied the game up in the top of the seventh inning only to lose control of the game in the bottom of that same inning. Read the rest here »

Resporter: Jordan Anderson is one of the fastest short distance runners in District, did you run Anderson in the 4×100 relay in Dripping Springs?
Coach Montgomery: “Yes, he ran the anchor leg and we finished 2nd overall.”
ReSporter: I saw that Dakota Repa came in and scored points for you in the Dripping meet and he has not run yet this year.
Coach Montgomery: “(Dakota) Repa is finally getting into track shape after coming over from soccer. He will has a legitimate chance of making the top three in the 300 hurdles.” Read the rest here »
Canyon Lake could not get out of the ‘canyon’ they dug themselves into after allowing six runs in the first inning against Boerne last Friday night at the Hawk diamond.
The strike zone was missing in action at the start of the game and the Hawks could not climb out, as they lost in a shortened game because of the 10 run rule.
“The difference in the last two games was jumping out to a four run lead against Navarro and giving up a six runs in the first inning to Boerne,” Head Coach Trent Dunavant said. Read the rest here »

Canyon Lake whitewashed the Boerne Greyhounds in a win that helped cement the Hawks into second place in the District 26-3A race last Friday night at the Canyon Lake diamond.
Pitcher Missy Romero helped the Hawks win their third game in a row and also winning their second straight over the Greyhounds.
Canyon Lake has now scored 29 runs In the last three games helping take a lot of pressure off the defense. The bottom of the batting order were the players that raised the bar for this win. Read the rest here »

The first stop will be from the circle as we look at Junior Pitcher Missy Romero.
Pitcher for a softball team has been the pivotal player for any team, because of the chance of dominating the game with strikeout power. This aspect had been adjusted this year when UIL moved the circle back three feet to the same distance as the college game. Read the rest here »
