Hawk’s Water Polo Takes Pieper Warriors for 1st Win.

Canyon Lake’s Water Polo Boy’s Team became the first Hawk Sport to win their first game of competition. A Tuesday home date had the Hawks pitted against their sister school Pieper Warriors.
A sport that cannot be rained out won on a damp cloudy day, 10-9 in this exciting match.
“Very proud of our guys, for their first game ever, they greatly exceeded expectations,” Head Water Polo Coach Page Small said with resolve. “This game gives us a benchmark that we can build on….next up Canyon!”

Canyon Lake was holding onto a one goal advantage and at the 2 minute mark, Levi Garner scored what would be the winning goal on a penalty kick. This goal gave the Hawks a 2 goal lead, 10-8 and a chance to hold onto this tenuous margin.
But Pieper was not finished and scored with 30 seconds remaining that brought the score back down to that one goal lead, 10-9.
The Lake was able to play keep away to secure this first ever win. Another battle with Canyon will be a home contest starting at 4:30 on Tuesday September 6.

The first week is in the books and there were two surprises in how well Marble Falls and Davenport played.
Elise Johnson finished with 2 blocks in win over Del Valle.
The Lake’s Volleyball (4-4) broke even on a 3-day Rattler Tournament that gave the Hawks a lot of repetition which can help as the team continues to work on improving as District 27-4A inches closer with a September 9th start date.
Canyon Lake Hawks suffered opening game loss to Wimberley, 21-14.
Canyon Lake struggled on both sides of the ball to start their, Battle of the Backbone, contest with Wimberley and eventual loss, 21-14.
CL Hawks Freshman Offensive Line have a good plow grading play in game with Wimberley.
The Hawk Freshman Football lost a heartbreaker to Wimberley as the home team pulled out a squeaker when scoring with 3:31 on the clock.

Wimberley Junior Varsity took care of Canyon Lake in a similar fashion as their previous season after capitalizing on Hawk mistakes and losing, 35-14.
