Profile on Offensive Lineman: Ezra Barrett
Tuesday, June 28th, 2011The Profiled Offensive Lineman so far:
Wes Dicks Junior Right Guard 6’4” 270lbs Logan Felch Junior Center 6’2” 190lbs Jaaz McNair Senior Left Tackle 5’10” 190lbs Ezra Barrett Senior Center 6’1” 240lbs
The ReSporter continues it’s trek through the vein of the football team. The offensive line is the most important part of the offense. If the line breaks down, then all of the other facets of the offense has a much steeper climb to put their hurt on the opponents defense.
We have heard two words repeated throughout the sessions: The line is excited and the brotherhood aspect or togetherness that the line has bonded.

Left Tackle: Jaazaniah McNair
Monday, June 27th, 2011
Last year was the tale of two seasons for Jaaz McNair. He started the season during the scrimmages and then came down with mono after the Dripping Springs scrimmage and was not back on the field until the middle of the season.
“I did not get back until the Austin Travis game and played my first game against Luling,” McNair coughed.
The offensive line was inconsistent during the first of the year and so it might not be a coincidence that the Luling game is when the Hawks put their best offensive game together running and passing up to that point of the season. The Hawks rushed for 233 yards and passed for 193. (more…)

Junior Center Logan Felch
The ReSporter continues the in depth ‘getting to know’ your offensive lineman. We have the thoughts of Junior, 6’2” 190 lbs center, Logan Felch.
Felch was a lot like Wes Dicks in that he played for the Junior Varsity starting the season last year and was moved up during the middle of the season finishing with the Varsity.
It gives you the idea the Coaches knew they were planning for this year by giving these young man experience so the two deep plan could be put into full force for this upcoming season.

Poll Question
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011Offensive Lineman: Wes Dicks is Excited
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011
Junior Right Guard Wes Dicks
The ReSporter wants to do enough articles on the offensive line that the fans can know these players like they might know the Quarterback or any of the other skilled positions.
The players and Coaches know that games are won in the trenches yet these are the players that are not at the head of the line when reporters are clamoring for interviews after hard fought games.
A hefty dose of one on one interviews with the offensive line throughout the rest of the Summer will be the only positions on the field that does not have a stat line that can be reported on.

Coach Wallen watching Junior Michelle Anderson
The Canyon Lake field house does not take a vacation like the main school hall will be during the Summer.
The Hawks have 60-80 students in attendance every night but Friday during the Month of June and July.
The Coaches split up with their responsibilities when the students break up into three separate groups for the evening of ‘fun’.
Coaches with the easiest job has to be the ones in the weight room.
Yes, the students are working hard, but they are inside. The three groups will rotate every 30 minutes are so during the workouts.

Volleyball Pre-View
Thursday, June 16th, 2011
The Canyon Lake Volleyball team was the first Hawk team to win a playoff spot two years ago and would now like to see if they can be the first Hawk team to win District.
“It will be a challenge,” Head Coach Nicole Creek said. “We will have six players returning this season. Right now we still have some unknowns with some players being on the Varsity team last year.”
Fredericksburg will be returning the same number of players and the ‘wet behind the ears’ Hawks played the Billies close in both district games last year and had a legitimate chance of winning both games.
