Canyon Lake Hawks were Flying in Scrimmage with Cuero.
Canyon Lake played Cuero in their first scrimmage last week and will go to work this week for a better outing when they travel to Elgin for a 5pm start time with the Sub-Varsity. CL’s Varsity will follow those those scrimmages around 7pm.

Of course the headline is not true but does bring up a point on how well last year’s team played going into that final quarter. A three period football game last season would have had CL going deep into the post-season which did have a wild campaign considering the ‘Covid’ season forced many different scenarios than any year since the Hawks started 13 years ago.

Canyon Lake had a hit or miss offensive season last year. There were games that had the slot-t plowing through defenses scoring 61 and 48 points against La Grange and La Vernia and then reaching just 14 points against Austin LBJ. Three other battles was low in points scored finishing in the 20s playing Wimberley, Fredericksburg, and Jourdanton.

Canyon Lake had one of the most eccentric seasons last year from losing coin flips to Covid cancellations and through those road blocks being thrown all over the roads, the Hawks managed to have a successful season within an eye-lash of getting to the 3rd round in the post-season..

Canyon Lake was able to place 11 players on the 1st & 2nd All-District 13-AAAA Football team after a good finish to a season that was just short of advancing to the Area Round.

Canyon Lake finished their roller coaster season by just missing a chance to record their biggest upset since the high school started playing football 13 years ago, 37-31.
