Timbeerrrrrrrr!! Isaiah Johnson saving tackle

The Bracken Middle School settled in for a sound football game stopping the Round Rock Crusaders on several second half scoring chances to preserve the win Thursday at Warrior Stadium, 12-6.

“I’m going to quit while I’m ahead,” Head Coach Steve Dement said slyly. “That was fun, it makes me wish I had coached six-man 33 years ago.”

The game started with a flurry as Daniel Forgione took the opening kick-off in for the score and early lead. The return spanned 62 yards and before the fans could figure if they let the pets out before they left for the game, the Warriors were enjoying a 6-0 lead.

Canyon Lake Volleyball team overcame first game jitters and won the last three games to win the match against Llano at Hawk gym.

The games would give you the idea that Llano would be the dominant team, 19-25, 26-24, 25-21, and 25-19.

The Hawks could not get out of the daze they were in to start the game and only had one rally of four points. The problem was the rally was on their last serve after being down 15-24.

The clash of the two 15 game winning streaks was over with just eleven seconds into the game as the Bracken Christian Warriors were business as usual against Houston Emery-Weiner Jaguars at Warrior stadium last Saturday.

The eleven seconds is how long it took Grady Achilles to run back the kick off without being touched. The 62 yard run for intense and purposes had the visitors loading the bus for their drive back to Houston early.

The E-W Jaguars did mount a decent drive to the mid field stripe on their next possession, but a failed run on fourth down allowed the Warriors to do what they do best…taking a business class on how to sell jaguars and Score.

The Canyon Lake Hawks are 2-0 for the first time in the history of the school and La Vernia did not have the Hawks as a homecoming game.

The stars were bright and gave the radiance for what could be a special year, in the 34-23 victory over the La Vernia Bears last Friday night at Bear stadium.

Two years ago, the Bears were doing what all opponents were doing and planning their homecoming dance at the expense of Canyon Lake. The problem? The Hawks were never invited to the party.

Freshman Hawks Impersonate Santa in September

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

Gifts are the order of the day when Christmas comes around each year. The Canyon Lake Freshman team acted out the Santa character as they handed out plenty of gifts to the Bears from La Vernia last Thursday night at Hawk stadium.

The Hawks evened the score in the second quarter with a 32 yard drive at the end of the second quarter. The score, with twelve seconds remaining in the quarter gave the team hope going into the second stanza.

Shane Relkin started the drive on a 13 yard run setting the offense on the 19 yard line. After a five yard loss CL was looking at a third and 15 yard challenge.

Cole Kelly answered with a 14 yard reception from Skyler Tschoepe, needing only one yard for the first. Tschoepe responded with a QB sneak on the seven yard line.

Running Back Karl Weidner gets yardage on first scoring drive.

The Canyon Lake Hawks Junior Varsity improved their record to 2-0 after making the game much more entertaining than the fans were wanting. The Hawks held on for a 18-14 victory in their first home game. The balanced attack of the Hawks kept the visiting Bears guessing all night long.

On CL’s second possession the Hawks drove 64 yards on just five plays. The drive had three runs from Karl Weidner for 18 yards. The runs set up two pass plays to Isaiah Gutierrez for 46 yards and the first score.

The next Canyon Lake drive finished on the Bear’s six yard line, but the home team could not capitalize on the Bear’s fumble on their 35 yard line. The red zone was not good to the Hawks with an incomplete pass from the six yard line went awry.

in the playoffs in the next couple of months. The depth and conditioning finally gave the Warriors the separation needed for a hard fought win at the Warrior Field last Friday night.

Bracken amassed the most yards in the short history of the school with 583 total yards. The rushing and passing totals ranked second in both categories and by looking at the outcome, every yard was needed.

BCS entered the fourth quarter with a slim four point lead as the Knights had closed the halftime deficit by eight points. (more…)

Canyon Lake JV Beat Blanco, 22-8

The football season has officially started and Canyon Lake took care of Blanco

Junior Varsity get congrats after Victory over Blanco

Panthers last Thursday night at the Blanco stadium.

The game mirrored much of the same kinks that the ReSporter had encountered.

The schedule stated a start time of 7pm and yet by the time the ReSporter’s car drove up to the parking lot, the game was deep into the second quarter of the game.

The Hawks also made some great strides on second half drives only to see a missed handoff here, a snap miss the hands of the quarterback there, and the blade of grass catching the receiver for a take down before a catch that would of been to the house.
