Be Authentic with your Hawk Gear & LET’s GO LAKE!

Track & Field will take a strong group to Kingsville this weekend for a Regional Meet with those Field Events commencing Thursday followed with the finals for running on Saturday. The only running event that counts will be the 3200 meter run that has Tristan Schenk and Eva Zabarcencu competing for a chance to make Austin.

The skinny for this year’s Softball & Baseball as the regular season comes to a close.

Softball will have their final two games this week and then getting ready for their first post-season date since 2021 the next week.

                               GO LAKE!

Fredericksburg and Bandera are the softball teams this week for sweep but a better chance to break even with a win over Bandera. A win to end district would be a good way to enter the playoff season.

At this time, Canyon Lake will be pitted against Lago Vista for their Bi-District contest.

Baseball is a little more complicated because the hard-ball teams play one school each week on a home and away schedule.

Fredericksburg is two games ahead of The Lake with two wins over Bandera and being swept by Wimberley and Navarro thus far.

                                Go Lake!

Canyon Lake has been swept by Wimberley-Navarro-Davenport and after this week’s schedule with the Billies finish with Bandera.

The Hawks will need to have at least a split this week and a sweep of Bandera to end with a play-in contest with a tie. A Hawk sweep this week and next week would give CLake a playoff bid without any fuss.

The ReSporter did a deep dive into each school’s non-district schedule and which team had a tougher schedule.

Teams Played Schools beat Team’s Dist Above .500
Winning % Winning Rec Record Schools %
CL Hawks .466 3 76-84 .475 69-34-3 .665 .
Billies .403 4 55-69 .443 84-43-0 .661

Canyon Lake did play a much tougher schedule but with a 6 game losing streak, how this Hawk team will do can be based on what is between two ears.

MVMS Baseball & Softball starts April 24th 630pm! GO LAKE!

Certainly a decent chance but a better fielding team would be priority #1 as that stat leads to more runs and adds pitches to that pitcher on the mound.

The Lake has a .227 team batting average in district games while averaging 2 runs per outing while CL’s pitching is presently with a 4.31 earned run average (era).

All of those variables has led to a less than stellar start when you see those first three innings with the opposition scoring 23 runs while Canyon Lake has scored 9 to counter. Just 4 runs scored through the 4th-7th innings.

The Lake needs to revert to the beginning of the year that had a better vibe which translated to wins.

Canyon Lake’s Gold team finished their Season with the Best Record for this Classification…Way to Go Hawks!

                       GO HAWKS!!

Canyon Lake clinched a playoff berth with their, 10-5 road win over Navarro last Tuesday.

The Lake used the binary scoring system (using #’s 2 & 1) during those first 4 innings starting with 2 runs then 1 run during those 4 frames. When that math was done, The Lake enjoyed a, 6-1 advantage.

Navarro did not give up holding CLake without a run in the 5th inning and scored their second run drawing within 4 runs with two innings remaining.

The Hawks put across another run but these Panthers responded with a 3-run homer and now going to the final inning needing 2 runs for a tie.

That was when the insurance salesman got involved for Canyon Lake by scoring 3 runs for a needed term policy with a 5 run lead.

                     Let’s Go Lake!

It was a three up and three down for these Panthers to end the game.

Canyon Lake started with Rianna Gonzales getting her 5th win in the circle this season. Aubrey Long finished the game that finished with both Ladies giving up just one earned run a piece.

Liza Shexnayder used her lead-off spot in the lineup getting on base 5 of her 6 at bats which was productive with a 2-run double that helped increase Hawk’s lead to, 6-1 which would be the winning hit.

The Lake is down to their final 3 games at the Hawk Nest starting with Davenport this Friday. The Hawks have officially clinched since a Navarro 3-0 finish would still leave a tie with CLake but a 2-0 record against Panthers would break that tie in favor of The Hawks!

Still a lot of games to shore-up some defensive shortcomings but a playoff goal has been reached and time to up the next goal for this team.

Canyon Lake’s last play-off was the 2021 season when this group of seniors were in 8th graders and a Bi-District crown would match that 2018 Hawk squad who bowed out in their Area round.

Way to GO Hawks!!

Be Authentic with  Hawk Gear & LET’s GO LAKE!

A mixed bag of results from the past week that had Softball split their two games with an important win over Bandera and then a tough set-back with Wimberley in a one run loss.

That Bulldog win left The Lake with 2 wins putting them in a 4th place slot and if that could be duplicated during the next two weeks a playoff berth. CLake road game on Tuesday could solidify a spot with a win over Navarro that would finish a sweep of the Panthers and the separation needed for that final post-season berth.

Baseball continued in their swoon losing their two game series with Navarro. Canyon Lake has another tough two game stretch this week that begins on the road at Davenport before that return battle at the Hawk Nest. A split or sweep would be needed….big time in realizing a chance to get back in the middle of a race for a good seeding.

CL’s Gold~Green teams continue their maturation with the Green Squad pitted against Navarro while the Gold Hawks will have a double-header with the Billies on Saturday starting at 11am.

Track & Field took the Gold at district last week with a comeback win over Fredericksburg coming out on top with a 3 point win, 150-147. It was the Ladies 3rd Meet win this year and first ever district conquest.

Way to Make us Proud Hawks!

Playoff’s for track will begin this Thursday at Wimberley when District 26-4A will be competing against District 25-4A with the top 4 of each of those events continue their trek for a date in Kingsville April, 18-19th.

Jacob Price was the only boy trackster able to qualify for the Area competition with a 40-10.25 for the Triple Jump event.

For the Ladies, there were several that will be trekking to Wimberley and The ReSporter will have another article before Thursday Meet.

Canyon Lake got back on track after evening their record beating Navarro, 10-3 last Friday.

Cheyenne Fields’ had a 3-run homer upping CL’s score to, 7-2 while with the help from Kelsey Unrue getting 3 rbi’s with her double and a, 4-0 Hawk lead during the bottom of the 3rd inning.

Navarro had crept back to a one run deficit, 3-2 before a 5 run answer for The Lake and eventual 10-3 win.

Pitcher Rianna Gonzales had a steller evenmin giving up one earned run while striking out 11 Panthers.

The Lake showed power accumulating 3 doubles and that Fields’ homer.

Hit Man says get rid of Pests Hawks!

This coming week, Canyon Lake will have two tough outings on the road with Davenport and Fredericksburg.

Breaking even would be considered a good week and a sweep would jump start a chance for finishing on the upper crust of District 26-4A Standings.

                              GO LAKE!

It was a good week for the Lake with Baseball scoring in double digits in all their wins and a just missed opportunity in a, 3-2 loss to State Ranked New Braunfels.

This week Baseball will start district with games against Wimberley.

The Softball team was able to even their district record after taking Navarro to the wood shed in their, 10-3 win over the Panthers. This week it will be @ Davenport on Tuesday and @ the Billies on Friday.

Golf will be in action on Monday in Fredericksburg as the Hawks will get familiar where one round will be played for District further down the road.

Track & Field will be competing at the Texans Relays in Wimberley and a good chance to catch a group of talented Hawks.

                        Let’s Go Lake!

Another headliner will go to this week’s Area Round of playoffs for the Lady Hawk’s Soccer team when they go to Lehman High School to take on Floresville with the start time 7:00pm.

Soccer beat Gateway last week, 6-1 and will look to continue their post-season schedule with another win this Tuesday.

                        GO HAWKS!!

The Hawk’s Soccer team will start their post-season this Friday at Johnson Hays against Gateway College Prep (17-4-1) where in District 25 finished 2nd place behind Burnet.

The Lake did not finish how they would have liked in losing to Davenport but those memories will need to be short-lived with those important post-season contests come calling this week.

For the rest of this week it will be sports that specializes with balls & bats with CL’s Baseball playing four consecutive days starting on Tuesday on the road at San Antonio Cole with a 12 Noon first pitch.

Canyon Lake will have two home games on Wednesday (Comfort @ 6:30p) and Friday (Gonzales @ 2:00p) with a 5A New Braunfels squad at their house this coming Thursday.

Hopefully a good week that can produce some answers for who solidifies a spot for those Tuesday & Friday’s contests. Pitching will be one of those opening positions with how the defense will be placed on who might win that #2 pitching spot.

Softball started their district play with a loss to Wimberley last Friday and now will see if they might be able to get in the win column when Navarro comes to the Hawk Nest on Friday with a 12 Noon first pitch.

A slow week that will pick up speed the next week on Monday 24th when CL’s Golf plays at Lady Bird Golf Course in Fredericksburg.

                             Go Hawks!

A pretty good week at The Lake that just passed. Baseball finished 3-1-1, Softball 5-1, Girls Soccer beat Freddie, Hawk Relays had some PR’s for several Hawksters, and Boys Golf finished 2nd in a two day Tourney against 4-5-6A school.

Baseball/Softball had two players pitch no-hitters….Aubrey Long (against Natalia) and Carter Williams (against San Angelo Central). These two players also contributed in the batter’s box with home-runs.

The Comal Clash starts this week on Thursday at 730p when The Lake clashes against Holliday. Two games on Friday with start time at 5pm followed at 7pm for the nightcap.

Softball is finished with tournaments and now enters 7 inning contests with Blanco (Tuesday) and Killeen Chaparral (Friday) both at the Hawk Nest.

                            Let’s Go Lake!

The Lady Hawk’s win over Freddie solidified their district standings chances in punching their ticket for the post-season. The Billies are fighting for a spot but The Lake will possess the tie-breaker after sweeping Fredericksburg.

Track & Field had some good results for the Lady Hawks and The ReSporter will have an article posted this week while the tricksters head to Pleasanton this Thursday.

Hawk Boys Golf will be teeing it off on Tuesday at Vaaler Creek and will hopefully riding the success achieved this past week.

Come out to support a bevy of sports at the Hawk Nest & GO LAKE!

Hawk’s Softball Sweep Natalia & SAC with an Aubrey Long No-Hitter

Friday, February 28th, 2025

Aubrey Long pitched a No-No & added a CenterField Homer for extra sauce! Go Lake!

Pitcher Aubrey Long in earlier game this season.

The Canyon Lake Hawk’s Softball started their Blanco Tournament with dominating pitching while combining these two games garnering 23 hits…pretty good balance for an extraordinary evening.

Aubrey Long had a decent night in the circle after pitching a No-Hitter in CL’s first game against Natalia who were not able to get any traction with many of the Hawk faithful getting some nice wind fans from all of the Mustangs missed pitches.

In fact, Long did not reach 3 balls in the count and struck out 10 Mustangs in this dominant outing.

“I had not been given many innings so I really have not had time to build everything,” Long said when asked bout her time in the circle.

‘Hit’ it LONG then commented on her home run, “The umpire came to the circle and said I had 8 minutes unless you can get out of this (inning) quick…so I said I need to hit because I was the first one up  (next in the lineup) and I had been really bad so I was going to step back and wait on it (the pitch) because all of her pitches had been outside and low and I felt like she was going to give me one…and I knew it was gone.”

Gone it was as the center fielder just watched the ball sail over her past the outfield fence. There were reports that the air traffic control in San Antonio had seen a UFO blip on their screen durning that same time.

Be Authentic with your Hawk Gear & GO LAKE SOFTBALL

Still some pesky Hawk errors but as a whole, on this night, The Lake’s Softball team was in a zone in every facet of this game resulting in two dominating victories.

The Hawks will continue their Blanco Tourney on Friday & Saturday with hopes of spotting more UFO’s (Unbelievable~Fluid~Offense)…

Way to GO LAKE!!
