Lake Comes up Short in Loss to Wolves, 56-41

The Lake came up short in their loss, 56-41  but showed resolve against the Davenport Wolves in keeping pace during the 2nd half finish, 28-27.

It was the first half that Canyon Lake, after Kobe Halverson darted 80 yards, thru a Wolves kicking team that tied up this game 14 all, early in that 2nd quarter.

That Halverson’s return was the 7th time the Hawks have accomplished scoring on a kick-off.

Davy would score on their next possession and the Hawks were unable to answer after a 12 play drive that fell short at the Wolves’ 27 yard line.

But, CLake would find some footing after stopping Davenport on their 11 play drive, that was knocking on the door,  reaching CL’s 7 yard line.  The Lake’s only punt from the end-zone left a short field for these Wolves.

Davenport would use two passes in scoring with no time left on the clock …hence a 14 point lead which would prove to be the difference in this hard fought battle in the end.

There were some nice offensive accomplishments with CLHS having two backs reach 100 yards rushing while one receiver getting triple digit yardage too for a rare first time ever feat.

It was back in 2009 when, The Lake had a combo 100 yard club receiver/running back reaching that milestone in a win at Llano.

Even crazier was this plateau had QB Jace Wheeler (112 yds) with his first 100 yard contest as well as Aiden Boals (106 yds)…it would also be Receiver Thomas Inmon (151 yds) first time hitting the century mark in joining CL’s rushing attack for this rare event.

Two Hawk fumbles proved to be that final nail in leading to this set-back as each CL possession showed promise in reaching the goal line.

Right there ~~ but just left short but now with a chance to right their ship when, The Lake goes on the road to Taylor (3-0) to even their district slate next Friday.
