Lake’s Freshman Start High School with Win Over Mustangs

Hawk’s Defense with Freshman, Talion Banks & Eric Ortiz buckles down Marble Falls, GO Lake!

                        Way to Go Lake Freshman!

Canyon Lake’s Freshman Squad started their first high school game with a, 27-14 win over Marble Falls.

During the past two campaigns while at Mountain Valley these Hawks have been pitted against larger Comal County schools.

This contest was a school of similar size and in dominating fashion CLFr carved out a decisive victory that had The Lake giving up two explosive touchdowns but as a whole dominated.

Take those two plays produced 127 yards for these Mustangs as Canyon Lake bottled up these Marbles with 65 total yards and three turnovers.

Carter Steams was steaming all over the field on both sides of the ball scoring 3 rushing touchdowns while racking up quarterback sacks with some impressive stops on defense.

Way to GO Freshman on your first Win!

The Lake did start off with some bumps after a Falls’ interception on the first offensive possession. But a Jaxson Cameron fumble recovery in the Fall’s backfield set up a short field and a Hawk touchdown 3 plays later.

It was Isaac Torres who made is presence known on three carries (one for 15 yards) that started the scoring.

Simpson would add another turnover with an interception that set up a score when Canyon Lake took 4 plays that covered 62 yards. Ironically it was Simpson who started this series with 27 yard pass from Coen VAnlandingham.

Steams finished the drive with two runs that covered the last 27 yards and a Hawk two score lead, 14-0.

It was those same dynamic duo (Steams & Simpson) with two explosive plays and a Hawk, 20-6 lead going into halftime.

After a Hawk defensive stop to start the 2nd frame it would take The Lake 5 plays to finish off The Falls when Steams scored with 2 minutes left in that 3rd quarter.

Brady Holladay put those finishing touches with his interception that closed the door on Marble Falls and win.

The Lake will be on the road next week as they will face another similar sized school with hopes of staying undefeated.
