A slim week with Football having a bye will have Volleyball in their last non-district contest against a very tough La Vernia school that won an earlier contest during a tournament.

Seeing how this Lake team in La Vernia responds will have Coach Daniella Villarreal assessing if there has been improvement since that loss.

Once again, this district, has three schools that rank high in Texas that will leave a fight for another school in search for another playoff spot.

Cross Country had the Boys with a top 5 finish last week against larger schools in the Canyon Cougar Meet.

This season’s Cross Country Girl’s with two ladies that opted out of the 4A schools and finished in the top 5 against larger schools.

Senior Eva Zabarcencu finished 1st with a time of 18:26.61 and second place was 33 seconds slower.

Then Sophomore Sophie Eastland was next in 3rd place finishing with a 19:10.47 time.

This course for larger schools was longer, 5000 meters, and considered a tough course. It was Zabarcencu taking control from the outset and was within 10 seconds of having a one-two finish.

Some great work for these ladies.

Football will be back in action next week when district starts against favorite Davenport Wolves.
