Hawks Lose Final to Navarro in District 27-3A
Canyon Lake Hawk’s Volleyball finished their season splitting their last two games with Bandera and Navarro. Both games were played at Hawk Gym with the finale last Tuesday night.
The Hawks had five Seniors on the court for their last game.
Cassidy Riccio, Logan Nease, Marisa Ellis, Reanna Wagliardo, and Katie Williams played with a lot of heart but still could not get that last win against Navarro.
At first, CL did not come out of their doldrums until the second game of this match.
After a 25-13 loss to the Panthers in the first game, Canyon Lake responded by winning their next game by that same score.
In that game, CL was dominant. The Hawks were everywhere on the court and controlled this game from their service to their kills and everything in-between.
Junior Amber Ramsey had seven kills in this game while Katie Williams (4) and Logan Nease (3) were just as lethal.
Canyon Lake jumped out to a 6-3 lead off the serves of Sophomore Mariah Ellis. In fact, their was only one serve from the Hawks that did not have a rally with points being the result.
Dominance was complete after just one and a half rotations from the girls in Green and Gold.
Enter the third game, and CL had kept their momentum up with another impressive start. Canyon Lake enjoyed a 18-9 lead and then the air started to come out of their balloon.
The Hawks could not stem Navarro’s drive and ended up finishing the game scoring just three points while giving up 16 to their visitors, 21-15
Fourth game was a repeat and rinse from their previous contest, when CL started hot again, leading 15-9 and allowing the Panthers to complete the match with another run of 8-16.
Sad ending for a team that looked in control, to only find themselves in front of an avalanche with no chance of getting away.
