Lady Hawk’s Win Area Meet ~~Boys Send 7 to Region

Shana Cutrer passing the baton in CL’s winning 4×100 Relay at the Area Track Meet! Way to GO FAST LAKE!

                        Go Fast Lake!

Canyon Lake Ladies won the Area Meet scoring 114 points while having 7 Ladies punching their ticket for Kingsville, May 1st & 2nd.

It was night and day for Hawk Boys after having one (Tristan Schenk) last year The Lake added to that total with 7 more participants in scoring 42 points and placing 6th amongst the two districts.

Katelyn Lowth set a personal best reaching 11-0 in the pole vault finishing 2nd in that event. Then Eva Zabarcencu and Sophie Eastland scored 26 points in their two distance events (3200~1600 runs).

In an earlier district article these four ladies (Savanna Oberholtzer~Aubrey Avey~Te’a Gonzales~Shana Cutrer) accounted for 98 points that day in Fredericksburg.

The Fantastic Four will have a busy schedule in Kingsville participating in the following:

4x100 Relay Savanna Oberholtzer~Te’a Gonzales
               Shana Cutrer~Aubrey Avey
4x200 Relay Savanna Oberholtzer~Te’a Gonzales
               Shana Cutrer~Aubrey Avey
100 meter dash Savanna Oberholtzer
200 meter dash Te’a Gonzales
100 m hurdles Shana Cutrer
300 m hurdles Aubrey Avey
Long Jump Savanna Oberholtzer

4x200 Relay Gage Jones, Peyton King
               Chris Brown~Tristan Alexander
1600 Meter Run Gibson Cover
High Jump Peyton King~Anthony Hockman
Triple Jump Jacob Price

                      Plug those Leaks FAST LAKE!

As you can see The Fantastic had two (Cutrer~Avey) placing First in their two events while CL’s other two (Oberholtzer~Gonzales) was Second in their 100 & 200 races.

Eva Zabarcencu and Sophie Eastland have been a consistent 2nd-3rd place in those two (3200~1600) distance races. Those two events has been producing 14 points or more most of this track season.

Katelyn Lowth was able to continue Canyon Lake’s pole vault participation in Kingsville through this decade thus far as she had a personal best with her 11-00 foot vault and finishing in second place.

That night and day for The Lake’s Boys Track & Field showed a good jump from their previous year and for that matter since 2019 season.

                              Way to GO LAKE!

Peyton King won the high jump and Anthony Hockman had a 4th place finish but does have a personal best of 6-02 earlier this season at the Hawk Relays.

Jacob Price had his personal best in the triple jump when he traveled, 42-07 that placed him 2nd on CL’s All-Time Top 10 List. That jump was about 2 feet better than he had done this season but did have a better jump last year, but his PR (personal best) was over a foot better than last year.

That brings us to 1600 meter man: Gibson Cover who obliterated his PR when he finished First in the 1600 meter by improving, right at, 8 seconds from what his performed earlier this year. In fact, he has put up some good races that have his time finishing 18 seconds better than earlier this season.

First Place for Gibson Cover in his 1600 Meter Run!

This was a sweet victory after his disappointment earlier in the day in that 3200 race and then on top of that beating a Dynamite Duo Davenport runners with a Superman effort and leaving them in the dust.

The Boy’s 4×200 Relay was able to make a date in Kingsville and their time was the Second best in Hawk Annals passing former 2nd place 2017 team of, Tanner Faris~Heath McDonough~Timothy Boehm~Connor Rose & former 3rd place 2012 team of, Daniel Camarillo~Eduardo Covarrubias~Zach Henshaw~Doug Hubnik.

In two weeks this Lake Relay team is not that far off in taking first as their time was .67 of a second off needing to beat, 1:30.29 race that was reached during the 2018 season.

These marks are important as they emphasize how this coaching staff has raised the bar in those important areas that can translate into other endeavors…..especially in that sport called Football.

In two weeks The Lake will look for improvement, as The ReSporter, will have the next track article comparing other Area qualifiers and how/what this present group of Hawk Athletes will need to do in making it to Austin.
