Lake Douses Dragons, 4-1; All-Time Playoff Stats

Canyon Lake doused the Long Creek Dragons after another strong performance from Cullen Barnhart who pitched a 2 hitter in giving up one run while striking out five.

Barnhart was also instrumental in this win offensive after his double driving in two runs as The Lake plated 3 runs in that opening inning. Those runs would prove to be enough for this win.

There was rough waters starting the 4th frame when Long Creek had 6 of 7 batters able to reach base but could only garner one run.

Three Dragons reached base with two walks and a hit batter to start this roller-coaster. This ride had two players out at the plate….one on a suicide squeeze play and the other fielder’s choice.

The Lake responded an inning later when Ryan Rena opened this inning with a single and then stole second base before another towering triple off the bat of Bryce May that scored Rena that got the Hawk’s lead back to three runs.

This was Bryce’s second triple this week with this triple against the wind.

Barnhart had right at 100 pitches with his last Dragon to bat swung at the first pitch for a pop-out that had the Hawks punching their dance card for another post-season change to advance to State.

It was after that scary 4th Long Creek frame that Barnhart doused these Dragons facing 10 and getting 9 outs for another impressive outing on the mound.

The Lake will now play Legacy Ranch (17-10) for a 3 game series that starts at The Lake this Thursday at 7:00pm and then return the favor Friday at The Ranch starting at 7:00pm.

If a third game is needed then the location will be determined for a Saturday start.
