Coaches Corner: Bracken’s Lloyd Fields

Coaches Corner with Lloyd Fields

Hey Coach it has been a while and so let’s jump right into this big upcoming game this Friday with Boerne

Head Coach Lloyd Fields

Geneva.

The ReSporter: What do we need to know about your game with Geneva this week?

Coach Fields: “This will be a major-major war this Friday. The rankings came out the other day and we are a 61 point underdog.”

The ReSporter: What does Geneva do that makes them so tough?

Coach Fields: “They are big, strong, fast, and they will hit you.”

The ReSporter: Tell us about some of their players.

Coach Fields: “Defense is where you will see much of their strength. They had a freshman last year (Hunter Hamon) who made first team all-state. They also have another defensive end that was voted all-district, I think his name is (Sam) Tippetts this player is unblockable.”

“They also have twin studs that are a load….the Standerfer twins. They are both big and strong and will be hard for our team to handle.”

The ReSporter: This sounds like a team that 45ed you last year in Abilene Christian.

Coach Fields: “They are a lot like ACU last year.”

The ReSporter: How will you play or change this week for Geneva?

Coach Fields: “We are not going to go out and change a bunch of things. But I think they will probably load six in the box against our offense. Geneva destroyed Austin Veritas and physically beat them up.”

The ReSporter: How important is this game?

Coach Fields: “The winner of this game will have a chance to play in the state championship just like last year. The playoff brackets have already been drawn up and the north and west districts will be in the North and we will have central and Houston district in our brackets.”

The ReSporter: So how is confidence going into this contest?

Coach Fields: “Our guys are not scared of them (Geneva), we are not a bunch of shrinking violets.”

“You have to remember that last year before our game with Geneva, we had our best receiver lost to injury and (Eli) Achilles had separated his shoulder in their game leading up to this contest. So we are in better health than this time last year.”

The ReSporter: I have also seen where your bonus kick is looking better this year.

Coach Fields: “This year we can kick a bonus point and we do have a lot of players at a new position so that will be important if we can score.”

The ReSporter: It seems like this is playing out like the movie, Dumb and Dumber….

“Hit me with it! I’ve come a long way to see you, Mary. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?”
“Not good.”
“You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?”
Mary: I’d say more like one out of a million.”
“So you’re telling me there’s a chance.”
