Alignment for this upcoming year has presented a lot of changes for these next two years as The ReSporter will point out for each sport which schools will be battling for those coveted post-season extended seasons.
These past two campaigns had football relegated going south by playing Uvalde~Pleasanton~Somerset schools. These next two years the UIL has switched Canyon Lake back north (for the most part) by replacing the schools just mentioned with schools from the Austin area.
There is one exception being Kerrville Tivy making their appearance for the first time and now the largest district, The Lake, has played since their first season. Austin Northeast will be another school The Hawks have yet to play along with Tivy.
“I’m excited about the 2026-2028 UIL realignment and the challenges it presents with our new opponents,” Head Football Coach Sam Parker opined. “Competing against a district full of well-coached teams will push us to elevate our game. With these new challenges comes a significant opportunity for growth within our program. I look forward to seeing our athletes rise to the occasion and develop both individuality and as a team.”
The Hawk’s Football will switch strengths from Offense (Strength) & Defense (Work in Progress)…last year it was the defense that had more returning starters which has switched for this coming season.
Below, you will see 8 teams now in District 13 and will have District 14 for the first round playoff opponents. There are 3 schools in this district that played The Lake during that 2 year span.
Canyon Lake had a combined 5-1 record against those three schools.
With 3 Non-District contests that have two schools, Lago Vista & Valley Creek View as first time opponents and then that Battle-of the Backbone where The Lake has had to set up a chiropractor to help all those back-pains given by these Texans who have an impressive, 15-3 record against your Hawks.
A GPS will be an useful instrument with 4 schools being first time to play for The Lake.
This year’s football schedule as well as the Hawk’s District in other sports with the District Schools that will pose those first round post-season play.
