MV 7&8 B Teams Use Paint Remover in Win, 32-6 over Vikings
Mountain Valley 7th and 8th B squads were combined for a game with Lago Vista to kick-off a three game affair with the Vikings.
“Our kids played hard tonight,” Head Coach Blake Miller quoted. “I am very excited for our kids today to get this win. A number of them stepped up and played well even though the circumstances were not the best.”
This Hawk club was victorious, 32-6 as this game was with a running clock from the opening whistle.
If you add another facet of a Lago Vista coaching staff, waiting to call a play about one per minute, fans would have a good reason to see if paint actually does dry that slowly.
It was a wonder, MV was able to score four out of five times when having the ball for this game.
Lago Vista had totaled 85 yards for the game and 65 of that real estate was accomplished on one play for their long run to score, which would be the Vikings only touchdown for the next three games.
Running Back Paul Martinez had two runs in that first drive that helped increase the lead to 16-0 with 5:25 still left on the clock.
The paint would then start drying as Lago Vista would take seven plays while using all three of their time-outs to finish this drive on the Hawk 23 yard line when that halftime buzzard sounded helping fans falling to sleep a reminder to go get a snack.
You have to wonder how many plays LV had that would take so much time to have their QB take a snap that took three or four seconds to finish.
Lago Vista, by the way, runs the same offense as Mountain Valley.
Mountain Valley scored to start the second half when Jesse Meckel would heave a ball to Bryce Vincent for 33 yards and capping a two play 40 yard drive.
Then a paint watching party was next as Lago Vista would unfortunately have the ball after the Hawk score.
Good news, the Hawk defense held Lago Vista to one yard of rushing on their four plays which helped fans to stay involved with how great this Hawk team was taking care of business.
Mountain Valley would take a snap for three plays on their last drive, giving Matthew Aragon the rock to carry for a 40 yard run and the final score as paint was now dry enough for fans to get up off the bleachers to go check for paint remover.
“I am excited for district play to start and to see how our kids match up against the other schools that we are playing.” Coach Miller finished. “We have Liberty Hill the next two weeks and we know that they are going to be a tough test for our kids, we just have to keep getting better and better ever day but our kids played hard and I was happy with the outcome of this game.”
