Baseball and Softball get Gobbled up by the Cuero Gobblers as both games failed to reach the 7th inning.

This is a tough year for bats and balls as Baseball has won 2 games and this year’s Softball team is presently on a 10 game losing streak.

For the Hawk Baseball team you have youth out the wazoo as CL lost several Seniors last season and just were not loaded enough to keep that train on it’s track.

“We played ok, just could not get anything going offensively,” Head Baseball Coach Trent Dunavant stated. “We put the ball in play, just could not square anything up…so give them credit for getting the job done offensively.”

Canyon Lake’s Baseball has gone two games without a run as finding the right combination for batting is a hit and miss. (pardon the pun)

Gavin Dietrich took the loss as Cuero continues fighting for one of those precious play-off spots.

Avery Montgomery and Cade Dunavant had the two Hawk hits as this crew prepares to meet Wimberley this Friday at the Hawk Nest.

Softball will be saying farewell to 3 Seniors this Friday in their contest with the Texans.

Alexis Robinson, Kirsten Jones, and Tiare Kacir will finish their home slate wearing many accolades on their uniform.

Robinson has proven you can hit multiple home-runs which was not a frequent event as she was penciled in as a Freshman.

Katy Payne had the only home run that was over the fence variety for the Hawks up unto seeing Robinson come to bat.

Robinson also passed Missy Romero with the most strikeouts this year and continues to add to that record with each opposing whiff. (say the word fast for an idea of the sounding of a bat missing a pitched ball)

Jones has improved each season offensively as her Freshman campaign was mostly taking a base as a designator runner.

This has been a night and day year for Jones as she leads the team with a .584 on base percentage while at a lofty 25 stolen bases only behind Carley Dubois’, 37.

Jones is also second with a .471 batting average for the Hawks.

With a .232 hitting percentage during this 11 game slump, you can vastly see what ails the Hawks this campaign while having an average of right above 5 errors per game going into their last two games of the season.

Really puzzling year for Canyon Lake but hopefully this Friday they can solve their problems and become a spoiler against Wimberley.

Come bid farewell to some great Seniors and as always Go Hawks!!
