Canyon Lake lost their first district game in a 5 set marathon at the Hawk Nest as Fredericksburg won the last two sets for the win.
The Hawks did start out lethargic with a sloppy first set as the Billies enjoyed a, 24-17 lead before a late CL rally left them short, 25-22.
Canyon Lake was nip and tuck in their next set as neither team had more than a 4 point lead. CL claimed that lead, 14-10, while the Billies were ahead, 3-1 early on.
Sophomore Paige Bower was instrumental in this win with 4 kills and 2 blocks.
Both teams were tied 9 times during this back and forth must win set for the Hawks.

CL finally started showing their strength in the 3rd set when on a Sam York service the Hawks had their biggest lead, 21-12. The Billies would make it more respectable with a final, 25-21 Canyon Lake outcome.
During that York rally service, Daniella Bustamante had the dig of the night that scored a point in dramatic fashion.
Both teams used their end of set rallies to change the momentum in the back and forth affair.
Canyon Lake had 4 point rally at the end of set one while Fredericksburg chipped away and finished with a 3 point rally in set 3.
That was when the floor gave way and the Billies won their next set, 25-12 that continued the game to a 5th and final stanza.
This was another tight set with each team enjoying a lead during this 15 point match. Fredericksburg made a break and got some separation with a 4 point rally, 8-12 lead and on the doorstep of taking the game.

Volleyball Hawks Flying High
The Hawks responded when Hanna White’s patented serve helped CL to take a, 13-12 advantage. Canyon Lake had a chance to win it all with a, 14-13 lead and serve but could not follow through for a point and go home finale.
Fredericksburg did find their mojo and put the Hawks away on an unforced error and final, 17-15 loss.
Now the Hawks will be in Bandera this Friday in trying to get back on track as this district season still has 5 games to go where anything could happen.
Canyon Lake needs to finish undefeated and then see if the other schools can match that intensity.
Go Hawks!!
