BCS Gets Back on Track, Beat Victoria Faith, 59-06
Bracken Christian won their final game of the regular season over Victoria Faith Cougars, qualifying for the playoffs, 59-0.
The Warriors went into their final home and regular season contest needing a win for a chance of playing win or go home games and passed that test with flying colors in this battle.
“I think we’ve made great strives forward,” Head Coach Hosea Hedric stated. “I believe we as a team have learned from each other, so the trust we have grown to have in each other is really cool.”
BCS started this game with a fumble on their first drive as Cristian DeLeion took an end around hand off to the goal line but fumbled on his fall that had Reese, on the spot, Smith there to recover the fumble in the end zone.
That started this game on the Warriors first dive and continued for the next 6 scoring drives to bolt out for a commanding 51 point lead.
“The team did improve on its overall season record and now it is time to improve in this post season, in which i believe we will do.” Coach Stredic stressed. “This Friday’s game, the kids played a good defense which dictated all other aspects of the game and if we continue to play this type of defense we will continue to win games.”
Coach Stredic had to be please with that part of the Bracken game as the Warriors’ defense seemed to have already gone south for the winter as the weather had stayed warmer longer than usual. That two game losing streak did not show much defense for the Warriors.
This contest had Bracken giving up just one explosive play and 2 first downs for the game.
There were 8 different Warriors to carry the ball and another 4 players having a reception to complete this win.
BCS longest drive was for 6 plays and that was complimented with 3 interceptions by the defense as Reese Smith had two and Cristian DeLeon finishing with the other INT.
Paul Nakalanga had another good game as a kicker and also started this game with a nice nose guard play rushing a Cougar with a tackle behind the line.
Victoria finished with negative rushing and without that one 60 yard catch and run it was a complete defensive game for the Warriors.
Now Bracken Christian will start their preparation for a home game against San Marcos Hill Country in the first round of playoffs this Friday night. San Marcos has a 5-5 season record and will come into this contest with a lot of confidence.
Bracken upped their record from last season and they too will see if they can go further in the playoffs starting this Friday.
Go Warriors!!
