Canyon Lake Ladies Winn, 50-29

So Chelsea Tschoepe scored 6 points in 4th Quarter to keep pressure on Eagle Pass Winn

Canyon Lake Lady Hawks improved to 11-2 after a Win over Eagle Pass Winn on Tuesday night at the Hawk Nest, 50-29.

It was a slow game as the Hawks finally started playing in the 2nd Half by outscoring Winn, 30-15 during those last two quarters.

         Way to Go Lady Hawks!!

“I think we got discouraged when we started the game and our shots were not going in,” Head Coach Zach Burleson stated. “We are doing a couple of new things and we have not had enough practices….we have had two practices in the first 13 games and now we will have to get as many games against teams with speed to help prepare us for district.”

The Hawks had 3 players reach double digit scoring as Reagan Heun finished with a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead CL in both categories. Chelsea Tschoepe returned to the line-up after being sidelined with an injury the last few games, scoring 12 points while Alexa Ramos had 10 points in this win.

A lackluster performance coming off a week of eating a stuffed turkey and dressing as that combination had a lasting effect as CL looked in a daze getting this contest started with two, 10-7 quarters.

“We were really flat in the first half and our energy needed to come up,” Heun said flatly. “It should have been a different game, but we are excited to play more experienced teams this week in New Braunfels.”

          Italian Garden Says Congratulations Hawks!!

Canyon Lake scored 7 unanswered points coming out for their halftime talk and with a sweet assist from Heun to Caroline Kullberg from the half-court line to a posting Kullberg as the Hawks started increasing their advantage, 30-18.

With this 11th win before December, Canyon Lake, needs just one more victory to match last year’s total, with many more games for a march to the 20 win plateau. CL’s best record was during their 2nd year of varsity play as that team reached the 19 high water mark that has stood as the best since the school has been in round-ball action.

The Hawks will prepare for their Canyon/New Braunfels tournament with a date against 6A Stony Brook and a chance to continue working on improving as District 28-4A play draws closer.
