Canyon Lake’s Basketball teams are starting to wind down their season as the Ladies have 3 games and Boys will be finished in 2.5 weeks.
CL’s Ladies are in a free fall after starting District 28-4A with a 3-0 record have not won a game since. This week will be important in seeing what place the Hawks might finish. A game on Tuesday against Llano will be a must win scenario as this YellowJacket team has yet to win a game and if CL cannot come out on the winner’s side then it would take a lot of work to qualify.
With Fredericksburg still on the schedule and a good Bandera club on the road might be too much to overcome.
The Hawks are tied with Wimberley and by beating Llano, then The Lake would go into tie-breaker scenarios if both schools finished with the same record.
The Boys have the upper hand after beating the Texans on Friday….this puts CL with a chance of improving a playoff spot. With Bandera and Llano both residing in the cellar gives the remaining 4 schools a spot to play in the Post-Season.
A win in Llano would clinch a playoff berth.
The Lady Soccer team are starting to see the light after suffering a loss to La Vernia, 1-0 last week and that type of competitive contest could help in getting the Hawks in jelling before district starts.
For the Boys Soccer, it was a disappointing week in that both schools had scheduling issues causing a week on inactivity. So, CL will start up with a game on Tuesday at home against SA Christian with the Ladies starting first and then the Boys play after that contest is finished.
February will see the Spring Sports starting to Spring into action as the middle of the month starts more activity.
Stay tuned to The ReSporter as we start handling the myriad of sports.
