CL Volleyball: District 28-4A Awards for 2019 Season
Canyon Lake’s Volleyball Squad had the District 28-4A awards announced and the Hawks capped off another successful season with some well deserving ladies.
The Most Valuable Player of the district was shared by two players, Rayna Pack from Wimberley and Jasmine Nelson with Boerne.
All-District 1st Team included two Hawks with Seniors Cassidy Felps and Lainee Moses. Both players were instrumental in helping the Hawks finish with over 20 wins and another trip to the playoffs and Area Finalist.
All-District 2nd Team was graced by two more Hawksters. Senior Caroline Kullberg and Junior Kaylee Moore as these players contributed and continued the best sport record wise in the short history of Canyon Lake.
Honorable Mention finished off the Hawk Awards by including Senior Kayla Wunderlich, and two Sophomores, Megan Vorhis and Olivia Robinson.
A foursome of Vorhis (278), Kullberg (267), Wunderlich (163), and Robinson (153) led the Hawks in kills while contributing with a majority of CL’s Blocks for this season. Vorhis led the team topping the triple digit numbers with 104 for this past campaign and joined Anna Bettersworth (119) as the only two Hawks to be in that category for a season.
Felps made her mark with 825 Assists combined with 376 digs but the most intriguing race was passing her sister, Kendall Felps (63) for Aces served in a season finishing with 73.
Moses led The Lake in Digs accumulating 585 as the Hawks Libero that topped Hayley Melone (583) for the best season mark.
Kaylee Moore contributed 269 digs with one that the Hawk Nation witnessed that came off her face in the Hawks Bi-District win over Salado that kept the rally going and eventual, ‘Point Hawk’. Moore’s 59 Aces was not too shabby either as this player might be after Felps record next year.
Congratulations to these Ladies as well as this year’s team and thanks for giving the Hawk Nation another year of victories and sportsmanship!!
Go Hawks and Thanks Seniors!!
