Canyon Lake’s Soccer teams started district play last week and the Girls tied Fredericksburg while the Boys lost to Freddie, 3-1.
Both teams will be back in action twice this week against Bandera Tuesday & Wimberley Friday.
Softball will start their regular season and new Head Coach Hope Gipson had this to say, “Our recent scrimmages have showcased significant growth despite early adversity. Through these challenges, we’ve gained game knowledge, confidence and improvement as a team.”
Coach Gipson continued, “We’ve made strides defensively even while challenging many to expand beyond their original position. Offensively we have learned to execute at the plate, move runners into scoring position, and create chaos with our speed. Overall, our game awareness has increased significantly while working through the many different situations the game of softball puts you in.”
Coach Gipson will have a home game with Elgin this Tuesday before heading off to the Wurst Tournament starting this Thursday.
Track Season will commence on Friday when Canyon Lake will compete in the Comal Relays in New Braunfels starting at 1:00pm.
CLake’s Boys Basketball secured a berth for the playoffs this past week and will conclude their district at home this Tuesday against Bandera. The ReSporter has the District Records below with an idea of what and who might be in store next.
It’s that time of year when all the days start to fill up with competition and little rest.
BASKETBALL DISTRICT RECORDS GO HAWKS Team W L Pct Davenport 8 1 .889 Wimberley 8 1 .889 CL Hawks 4 5 .444 Navarro 3 6 .333 Billies 2 7 .222 Bandera 2 7 .222 Tuesday Games Bandera @ CL Hawks Wimberley @ Davenport Navarro @ Billies
If the Hawks beat Bandera then they will be a 3rd seed and with a loss coupled with a Navarro win over Fredericksburg those two schools would need a tie-breaker to decide the seeding.
A Hawk loss to Bandera and Navarro loss to Freddie would still have CL as a 3rd seed and a Panther/Billie needing to decide which team gets penciled in as a 4th seed.
This year there are two separate brackets divided by enrollment of the schools.
Largest Smallest
Davenport Wimberley
Fredericksburg Navarro
Canyon Lake Canyon Lake
Based on the size of schools above, The Lake would have a chance of being in either bracket.
So, if there is a tie between the Billies and Navarro the winner of their play-in game would decide where the Hawks would go….a Navarro win would place CL with Davenport in the large school and a win for the Billies would place your Hawks in that smaller school bracket.
If the Hawks finish in a large school bracket they Austin LBJ and the smaller school bracket would be Lago Vista.
Clear as mud?
Let’s GO LAKE!
