CL Boy’s Soccer have Important Battle this Friday against Texans

Canyon Lake’s Boys Soccer will have their most important battle this Friday at the Hawk Nest when the Wimberley Texans come calling as the district race moves closer to the finish line.
On Tuesday, the Boerne Greyhounds beat Wimberley and Fredericksburg was a winner in their game with Bandera.
Way to Plug those Leaks, Go Hawks!!
Those results has helped give some more meaning to the district records and what each school will need to achieve in finishing on top for that important 1st seed play-off spot.
Canyon Lake has 3 games remaining and this Texan’s bout can either sink any hope for a District Title or it can give CL an inside track for securing that title.
The Hawks have already clinched a playoff bid and will be paired off with District 27-4A in those Bi-District contests.
“We are at a pivotal point in district,” Head Soccer Coach Ryan Tierney stated. “This game is very big for us. A win continues to set us up to play for a district championship. A loss changes our approach to getting the best possible seeding and hoping for falters from teams in the district to keep our district championship dreams alive.”
Speaking of seeding and who might be first through fourth in that competing district, at this writing, Liberty Hill is one game ahead of Salado with Lampasas and Jarrell finishing those four teams that would be participating if the season had finished today.
Canyon Lake has won a previous game with Jarrell and tied Liberty Hill earlier this season. Lampasas has had several common opponents to compare how this team would stack up in CL’s district.
The Badgers were beaten by Wimberley twice and Bandera once. Another loss to SA Christian would indicate this could be a good first match-up for your Hawks.
Salado is known for having a solid program and started hitting their stride when district bouts came calling with a chance to tie LH for first place with a win this Friday against the Panthers.
“Yes this game is big, but as a collective bunch we said we were going to have to win out in the second round to get that championship,” Coach Tierney closed. It is one game at a time and right now, Wimberley is the team to beat.”
Now back to where a loss against Wimbo, would put The Lake, needing Fredericksburg to lose their final two games, against Boerne and your Hawks. Possible but that loss to Boerne would propel the Greyhounds to the top of the district perch.
Still have a 2nd or 3rd seed possibility but a tough way to have your future in the hands (or feet) on how other teams perform.

A win this Friday would have a much better future since the Hawks still have another game at home with Freddie. Bandera is that other school left on the docket and if Canyon Lake plays up to par, that would be a winnable road contest.
A loss earlier to Wimberley has this game on a different level since there is that Devil’s Backbone thingy between these two communities. But having these Hawks on a 3 game district winning streak and increasing that to a 6 game scenario would have The Lake with another Team District Championship even if Freddie beat Boerne that would have a tie contest separating your Hawks on the plus side and a No. 1 seed.
Yeah, and thanks to Wimberley for tying the Billies, but that still let’s you know this will be a tough out.
Like Coach Tierney said, “It is one game at a time and right now Wimberley is the team to beat.”
