BCS Have Some Aces Missing in Loss to Cedar Park
Bracken Warriors did not play with a full deck in their loss to Cedar Park Eagles, 60-46 on Friday night.

“We are running out of gas by the fourth quarter and with this being late in the season and with the defections it is making it hard,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said. “All of our players just get banged up and we just don’t have the bodies to rep ace them on the sidelines.”
BCS has been dealt a deck of cards with some aces missing this year as a lot of players decided to not play this season. That has left this Bracken team trying to stay fresh as each game matures into the second half.
Bracken has scored 312 points in that first half while giving up just 86 points for those same two quarters.
In the last two games with Kerrville OLH and Cedar Park Summit, the Warriors have lost that second half battle 72-52.
Once again this loss can be traced to a play that took away a score and the next play for Bracken’s opponent would be a score.
Those 12-16 point swings have started the proverbial snowball going down hill for Bracken in which it is hard to get stopped.
BCS started strong again in this game as Cristian DeLeon helped stop a score when he intercepted a ball in the end zone to stop a sure score for the Eagles.
“I feel good about our defense,” DeLeon said. “We still have a lot of room for improvement.”
Bracken would take that turnover and turned it into seven points as the Warriors went 51 yards on six plays for their first score.
Receiver Jeff Camp would have another outstanding game as he had two catches for 40 yards on the drive, the last two yards for the score.
Cedar Park responded with a three play drive covering 43 yards with the last play coming from 25 yard pass play.
The Eagles were off on their point after and BCS still held a, 7-6 lead. It was the next drive that Bracken had a touchdown wiped away when DeLeon caught a 17 yard pass play but Bracken’s next pass was intercepted and no points would be lethal.
The Eagles would score again just needing 27 yards on four plays and their first lead, 14-7. Bracken would stay close when they only needed thee plays and another pass for Camp and a score from 23 yards out.

Cedar Park would answer that score with a one play, 38 yard pass and now enjoyed a, 20-13 lead.
After a Bracken punt and an Eagle fumble, the Warriors would tie the score when QB Brady Beene would find Camp in the end zone after looking off the defensive backs for a 32 yard bomb.
This time Cedar Park would take just one play for 45 yards and Bracken would enjoy this tied game for 16 seconds.
The Eagles would intercept Spread Back Boriack’s on Bracken’s next possession but a good defensive stand would force a punt.
Bracken would score with no time left on the half-time clock when Boriack found Camp from 30 yards out on a hail mary and a one point deficit going into halftime, 28-27.
A fumble on a Camp run would give Cedar Park some breathing room when they scored on a one play 32 yard run.
Bracken would still make it interesting when they would score taking seven plays and 42 yards on their next drive.
A Boriack run up the middle and pitch back to Camp would result in a six yard run to paydirt on a play that might have been drawn up in the dirt by these two seniors.
The result had this Warrior team trailing by three points, 36-33. Another score by Cedar Park would increase their lead to nine points with a little over four minutes left in the third quarter, 42-33.
Bracken would strike back with another completion from Boriack to Camp from 44 yards out. Camp would top 190 receiving yards in this contest on just 8 completions in which five of those catches being a touchdown.
Camp continues to plow new grounds in receiving yards for Bracken Christian. In four games this season, Camp has topped what was once the top receiving yardage by Grady Achilles when he had 114 yards receiving against Tomball Rosehill back in 2011.

Bracken Christian is just not Camp either as many other receivers are stepping up this season.
DeLeon had over 100 yards receiving this season which also in the top 10 for games receiving for a game.
“I grew up playing with Brady (Beene) in Pop Warner since I was in the fourth grade,” DeLeon said. “We just need to work hard and try to perfect everything….I have confidence and know we can win and go to State.”
With the score still within reach for BCS, 42-40, Cedar Park would still have enough in their tank as they would score again in just three plays with over two minutes still left in the third quarter.
Bracken would keep it close when they were abel to drive eight plays and cap it off with a Boriack two yard run with the fourth quarter clock showing nine minutes and a 48-46 score in favor of the Eagles.
Two more scores for Cedar Park would put this game out of reach for the outmanned Bracken Warriors. Coy Zunker would finish this game leading in tackles with 10 and an interception to boot.
“We played without three defensive starters and that certainly showed in this game,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said. “We had to play guys with no knowledge of defense and that is just not fair to them or our team.”
Another tough loss for Bracken as they finish this regular season with a two game losing streak but another chance as they will face Conroe Christian in Conroe next Saturday at 5pm.
“We just have to put the best players on the field,” Senior Coy Zunker said intently. “If we play with a full heart and full intensity….any team is beatable and our team can win if we can minimize our mistakes.”
Mr. Intensity (Coy Zunker) was asked how he can control his actions for this game as he was out of action this time last year.
“I just need to play in between the whistles as much as possible,” Zunker said zealously. “I will encourage and tell the younger players not to be nervous and just remember how you played in your practices.”
On what he feels about his teammates and this game? “I can count on them!….I don’t want to let up at all and play with 100% the whole game.”
The BCS district placed four teams in the post season as their is no question which part of Texas has the best teams ready for this year’s playoffs.
