CL’s Boys have fallen off the table this past week after suffering two weeks and now find themselves holding on for a playoff spot. It is a pretty good chance that the other 3 district teams not named Davenport/Wimberley will absorb a loss when finishing their schedule through February 11th.
Hawk Soccer teams will start their district slate this week when both teams play Fredericksburg. The Boys start on the road where the Ladies will welcome the Billies to The Lake.
The Boy’s Soccer (5-7 record) have improved already with 5 wins which is 4 more than amassed all of last season. Offense has been in abundance with already scoring 17 more goals than the total 15 goals reached last year. Hopefully this could be a precursor for better things this season.
Softball has a full week of scrimmages while Baseball started their scrimmage season on Saturday with a round-robin affair with Flour Bluff and Calallen.
This week Hawk Baseball will play two home scrimmages against Harlandale on Monday with first pitch at 7:00pm and then a Noon first pitch playing Marble Falls.

Girls Basketball starts their third week of district play at Navarro (Tuesday) and Davenport (Friday) at the Hawk Nest. It is another tough district as all these schools have winning records.
The Hawks did get their first win at Bandera last Tuesday when Reece Coburn led the Hawks scoring 17 points and this win was highlighted with CL’s defense holding the Bulldogs to one point in the 3rd quarter which allowed enough separation to coast with an 11 point victory.
The Lake’s Boys started district on the road last Friday with their first win ever at Wimberley, 63-56. (Article is Posted on this site)
The Boys will welcome Navarro on Tuesday and then will travel to district favorite Davenport on Friday.
Soccer has been full tilt with their schedule as the Ladies sport a 4-2-1 record that has seen a schedule peppered with (2) 6A, (1) 5A, and (4) 4A schools. The combined record of the teams is a haughty, 25-14-4 with those two losses coming at the hands of a 6A and an undefeated 4A schools.
CLake Ladies will be in action this Friday at the Hawk nest against La Vernia.
The Lake’s Boy’s Soccer will play Thursday in a tournament against Hondo, JFK-Friday, and Leander Glenn on Saturday.

The Lake’s Boys & Girls Basketball are entering their final 2 to 3 weeks before
Their season comes to a close.
Morgan Bebee gets shot off as Makenna Myers is ready if needed for a rebound in Hawk win earlier this season.
The Lady Hawks Basketball team finished last week’s contest with a win and loss but, with some high powered deciphering glasses, you could certainly see some upgraded degrees of playing especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Mya Vorhis made the little things count in Tourney over the weekend.
The Hawks won their final two contests and finished with a 3-1 record and claimed a Silver Bracket Championship during their Cornerstone Christian School Tournament with a run-a-away victory over Dripping Springs, 74-40 and a squeaker win over Boerne Geneva, 54-52.
Sofia George scored a combined 66 points (102 pts for tourney) in those final two games and presently has a 25 point scoring average for this season.
During her 34 point outing against Geneva she shot 64% from the field and was a lofty 80% behind the arc percentage while also dishing 4 assists and 4 steals.
But it was Marley Christian who had the final steal… when she intercepted a pass in the last 2 seconds keeping Geneva from a possible win or tie with their last shot.
“That’s not the first time we have been in “down to wire game situation,” Head Coach Lauren Perez said. “Our girls are learning that basketball is a game of ups and downs and momentum swings, but we have to stay patient and composed especially when we have the lead and a team is making a run. Geneva made some great plays and had offensive threats, but our girls were able to refocus and get the job done.”
Go Hawks & Come to a Unique Gift Store & Check out the Christmas items!!
Lottie Chappell had a 10 rebound effort and continues to show how valuable she can as she also ended this outing with 4 steals and a block. No points, but doing those other parts of this contest she provided CL as role player that are playing their task very well in those facets.
“This goes to show that our game against Boerne Geneva we had some key players in foul trouble. Coach Perez relayed what she said to the players as CL held on for this win. “So even when Geneva tried to make a run, we had to lean on each other as a team.”
Mya Vorhis was nails in this tourney being a jack of all trades as she was able to score, rebound, have an assist or steal in different battles that helped in completing a great week.
Reece Coburn has been claiming more time on the court and this Geneva game showed a more complete result as she joined George in double digit scoring (11 pts) shooting 44% and recording 2 assists.
Canyon Lake was able to get a lot of repetition the past two weeks and coming out with a 6-3 record will help strengthen that main goal during this time of the campaign and that is being ready for district.
The Lady Hawks will be back at the Hawk Nest this Tuesday when they face Fox Tech with tip-off commencing at 11:30am.
Congrats and Go Hawks!!
