CLJV Beat Valley Creek as Defense Clamps Down in a, 28-6 Win

An aggressive Lake Junior Varsity had a balanced game with defense & offense in win over Creek View, 28-6.

The Lake diced up the Cougars on both sides of the ball that featured a run stopping defense that scored the last touchdown when Jaydon Alvarez pounced on a loose ball two yards deep in the end-zone putting a bow in this victory,

Offensively it was running back Hunter Norris who averaged over 10 yards per tote with a 50 yarder that helped set up CL’s third score during the 2nd quarter giving the Hawks a, 20-0 halftime advantage.

Canyon Lake’s first score was set up with a Hayden Gemar 28 yard catch from QB Jake Stringer who would tush push over the goal line on that next play.

It was QB Jake Welkey, with his driving run, through a team of cougars scoring that second TD which would be enough to give this second win of the season for the good guys.

The ‘Play’ was on a touchdown reception for Elijah Gonzales who’s toe tapping catch coming from QB Welkey in the end zone resulting in the Hawk’s final offensive touchdown.

CL’s defense held the Cougars to 59 total yards with The Creek’s last drive that had two pass plays covering 30 yards or half of the Creek View’s total in this game.

Alvarez had Canyon Lake’s one interception that closed out any hopes for a score to end that first half for The Creek.

Way to Go Hawks as they will prepare for Davenport in two weeks.
