Bracken Christian: Cross Country

Bracken Christian Warriors have performed well throughout the history of the school and this year will be similar as the fall season goes into the final stages.

Cross Country is the purest of Sports. The team does not have to wear helmets and don’t use any special type of balls.

A Cross Country team in its essence is about your endurance with the only piece of equipment needed is shoes.

This year’s team will be gearing up for State in a few weeks.

In the Hondo meet run a few weeks ago, Katie Wilmotte finished in third place among 55 girls that ran in the meet.

“The team works hard for us and are very disciplined,” Head Coach Jack Roettinger said.

Barrett Corey finished 21st in the same meet, racing against 66 other boys.

“Every practice is logged,” Coach Roettinger said. “We will measure where the team is while running miles in practice. The team will run 20 and 15 miles and we will also work on shorter runs of 100, 200, and 400 meters.”

BCS will be running their races on courses based the State meet.

“We try to get good course and good competition that will resemble the type of course they will run in Waco,” Coach Roettinger sprinted.

The times below were at the UTSA meet two weeks ago.

Last year the Warriors finished third in TAPPS State Meet in both the girls and boys division.
