BCS Has Positive Win Holding Winston in Negative Total Yards, 46-0

Bracken beat The Winston, 46-0, running 15 plays on offense.

In fact, Coach Lloyd Fields was using his bonus point play as a scrimmage play near the end of the game.

The Warriors, in the past have beaten teams before they got off the bus coming to the games based on reputation. The Winston was beaten many days ago based on their effort in this contest.

BCS had four one play drives for touchdowns that covered a total of 166 yards. That number could have been five drives if receiver Jeff Camp had not stumbled after catching a pass from QB Sam Hilgendorf. The play finished six yards from paydirt.

Every statistic offensively for Bracken had a player with over a 10 yard average each time the ball was touched.

Defensively, Bracken was in The Winston’s backfield all night and gave the referees an impression that The Winston was playing with 11 players on offense.

Mason Anthony played as the X-Backer and was a thorn in Winston’s side more than once helping the defense keep Winston from getting into positive rushing yardage.

Nine rushing plays in a row were tackled for a loss and add that they were all incomplete, will give you an idea of how outclassed this Winston team was playing.

San Antonio The Winston has been the recipient four of those 10 years with a combined 50 yards of passing offense, and now have the third worst total yardage games sharing the (-) with Round Rock Christian team twice.

Bracken was able to get all their players in this game for most of that second quarter and the fans (and Parents) could see the future will not be bleak going into next year.

Sophomores Tim Corey and Daniel Forgione both got some valuable minutes and performed well in this win.

Corey had several tackles and touched the ball two times by handoff and receiving for 35 yards.

On what Corey was thinking when Coach Fields called his name to go in, “You don’t want to mess up,” Corey said fluidly. “But once you are out there the nervousness goes away and instincts take over.”

Bracken took care of business and now will prepare for a team (SugarLand Logos) that lost to the Warriors by just 4 points earlier this season.

“The polls have our two team separated by hundredths of a second,” Coach Fields said. “This was a tough game and the four point win was closer than the score. We are in for a battle.”

On how the players will approach this game, Corey commented, “You know what you have to do and you know what you need to do and now we just need to go out there and do it.”

Corey continued, “No mistakes especially in practice and if we think about it too much then you mess up, so we need to keep a clear mind and just play football…I play for the scout team it is my job to try my best and to be like Logos.”

Senior Davis Scott also chimed in on what will need to be done this week, “We have got to be tough and play with power and we can’t be something we are not….practice like we play this week and we can’t slack off….we will have to play with confidence and do what we know and do what Coach told us to do…this is Texas High School Football Playoffs and you need to give everything you’ve got.”

Sounds like the team will be ready, now is the time to find out which team has improved since the first of the season. SugarLand or Bracken…

The game against SugarLand Logos Prep will be played in Giddings, Texas, this Saturday starting at 6:00 pm.
