As the Hawk’s Offensive Line goes, so goes Canyon Lake

The ReSporter will always try to get their first article on the Offensive Line for many reasons.

They are bigger than The ReSporter and you always want to be sure they are happy. Another reason is simple, your offense and defensive lines will be that main ingredient for having a good team.

Winning a battle in the trenches will dictate how the opponents will run their offense and defense. Winning this battle will usually result in a win.

This year, The ReSporter wants to start with the strong side of the offensive line. Being the second year with a Slot-T offense, this line will usually take on a lot of responsibilities on blocking for those running backs and hopefully many yards.

The ReSporter just opened up the questions and gave free range for these players.

Players in attendance?

Jonathan McGuire, Austin Kahil, Tristan Woodruff, and Gordon McCleary behemoths filled the room.

The ReSporter: What is the difference between where you are this year compared to last season?

Woodruff: “We are at least at week seven during the season last year.”

McCleary: “We know more and that allows us to know who to block and how to play together.”

Kahil: “Way ahead…..expanded the play book and so far we are ahead of last year’s team. We have added new plays.”

McGuire: “Last year we were still trying to find out who goes where.”

The ReSporter: What are some of your goals for this campaign?

McGuire: “Our efficiency with our red zone offense.”

Kahil: “Yeah, that is a big one.”

Woodruff: “I want to score more points….”

Other guys: “That was deep Tristan”

Woodruff: “Yeah, I know that is what we are suppose to do, but if we are scoring more points then we are doing our job.”

McGuire: “I want to play as hard as I can and work on my baseline stuff or just do some fine tuning.”

The ReSporter: What happens if something goes wrong on the field? Who will be the ones that will rally the troops?

Kahil: “I want to make the playoffs and this is my last year but Coach Moses will many times let us know what formation we need to fix for our picks.”

McCleary: “I think a little shout out to get us to focus more on what we need to do to make our communication better.”

McGuire: “We just have to fix our mistakes based on what the quarterback says.”

The ReSporter: We are looking forward to seeing your offense this coming season and watching how you will take care of yourselves as this season matures….Good Luck!
