CL Hawks JV Win Over the Hondo Owls, 8-2

Zach Elson and Travis Parma each cashed in with leading the Hawks with 2 hits in win over Hondo JV.

Canton Lake’s Junior Varsity remained undefeated (4-0) with a win over Hondo with Cody Jones striking out 9 Owls for an . 8-2 victory.

              Way to Go Hawks!!

Hondo scored one run to start the game but that lead did not last long when CLJV scored 4 runs in the bottom of the second for a lead that would last for the game.

Pitching has been a premium with the last two contests has had Luke Roskin holding Schertz Clemens to one run and this two run affair by Jones and Travis Parma.

Parma was efficient at the plate with two hits and was joined by Zach Elson who matched that hit parade.

“I have been making small adjustments to my swing in practice and I feel that I am in a good grove,” Parma said like an Emperor who thrived on having a new groove. “I have been making solid contact every time at the plate and I hope to continue making strides and continue to improve.”

                  Let’s Go Hawks!!

Good words for an athlete that wants to help this team win. On what his thinking was to help on the mound after Jones hit his pitch count, “I just focused on coming in and throwing strikes. We have a good defense and I knew if I could just throw strikes, good things would happen.”

Elson would also give us some of his thinking after his two hit game, “I have been hitting the ball, but generally right at people so I have been pressing a little at the plate. Today I relaxed and stayed focused on my swing. It (my swing) is feeling real good and I am seeing the ball real well.”

Good way of staving off a visit to a optometrist.

Cody Jones pitches a gem after striking out 9 Owls in win.

The Hawks had an on base percentage of .471 that help keep applying pressure on Hondo and eventual win.

Jones shut out the Owls for 5 innings before the last inning when Hondo had the bases loaded before leaving the game.

“I felt I had good command of all my pitches,” Jones said. “It was a little tough out there throwing into a strong wind tonight, but I tried to block that out and do my job. My arm felt really good tonight.”

Doing a good job is paramount for a team that remained undefeated as District 28-4A will be coming soon and a chance to see how this team will stack up against their foes.

Another good win and as always, Way to Go Hawks!!
