Bracken is Brack in Win over NB Wildcats, 47-0
Bracken Christian roared back in their second district game and skunked the New Braunfels Christian Wildcats, 47-0.
Coach had several players in the game that played more than usual and on top of that were playing positions on the field that they had not played before.
When asked if the players did well that were in positions not played before, Head Coach Hosea Stredic said, “The didn’t get a F.”
This game was over after the first drive as Senior Daniel Forgione had the first 3 carries for 47 yards with Baylee Tremont finishing the drive off with his first of two touchdowns on the day.
Tremont missed the 100 yard rushing mark by just four steps as several Warriors got into action on this night.
Lucas McCrum also had a break out game with two touchdown runs of, 40 and 34 yards, which continued the onslaught of players making a statement after the loss last week.
This was the fifth win in a row over our friends to the east as the Wildcats only win came in Bracken’s inaugural season 10 years ago, a 44-22 loss.
The game also was the second game ever where BCS held their opponent to negative yardage in passing.
A win over Round Rock Christian back during the 2010 season matched the Warriors defense in this game having the Wildcats licking their wounds with -2 yards of passing offense.
There were other firsts in this contest as BCS administered their first ‘Mercy’ game and shut out for the season.
Bracken now has a 37-5 record in games that don’t make the full regulation of 4 quarters.
And the Warriors now have shut out 20 teams and New Braunfels has been the recipient for 3 of those evenings. In Bracken’s 5 game winning streak, the Wildcats have scored just 12 points.
Bracken failed to score on just one drive which was right before halftime festivities.
Six of the seven drives ended with a score and a game that should help in preparing the Warriors for the rest of their district record.
There were several players that had a chance to show the team they can contribute.
One such player was Lucas McCrum that finished with 11 yards rushing and more yardage than the NBC team.
“It felt great having the opportunity to run those TD’s,” McCrum said with gratitude. “I loved every second of it and was great that I contributed to the win, but I give props to my team because without their blocking, I could not have done what I had done.”
The ReSporter has been covering the Warriors since their 3 year of football and Lucas had a brother that was on those first teams and so having complete stats just is not possible.
In saying that, Jake McCrum had 30 carries for 160 yards back in 2008 season.
So, little brother might have a chance of passing big brother in future games, what would that be like, Lucas? “I would not have been where I am without my brother,” Lucas said with pride. “He has taught me the fundamentals of football, but he might have give me a little more than he wished for.”
Those are some great incentives for future games as Lucas McCrum will have several more games to top that goal, especially since The ReSporter will be around to see where this freshman might end up in 4 years.
Sophomore Running Back, Baylee Tremont also was all over the field finishing with 96 yards on the night as there was speed and moves last seen on the dance floor. (Glad Bracken is not a Baptist School)
Another first for Seth Smith as this was another player that had his first catch as he went 30 yards for a touchdown.
The Warriors had enough mayo to spread all over their bread as this game certainly filled up those wants when everybody had a chance to put smiles on the faces in the stadium.
Now, BCS will have another chance to show they belong when they will take on Castle Hills this week.
How this game ends should give players and fans a chance to see how this season has a chance of finishing.
“We are ready to play,” Coach Hedric closed. “We need to take care of business up front and improve our pass coverage and our offense is in gear right now.”
Leave it to a Coach in always having something to work on to get the team ready for their next game.
Go Warriors!!
