The Lake had their first Football playoff 10 years ago in just their 2nd year of playing Varsity Football. That team changed a forgettable first year to a stunning 3rd place finish in district play that would have Canyon Lake celebrating the 7th consecutive year of Post-Season play.
Ten years ago, the Hawks played a very good China Spring team and a game that turned out much closer than the casual fan having this newcomer school as a heavy underdog.
That final score, 31-20 which had Canyon Lake with a chance up until the 4th quarter.
This year’s Hawk team will be facing a similar situation as a heavy underdog that a casual fan would have a heavy underdog. CL Hawks will bring their ‘A’ game and will give this Blue Jay team all they can handle.

Canyon Lake’s Green Basketball Team disposed of Poteet’s Junior Varsity, 21-18 in a game they never trailed and led by as many as many as 10 points, 13-3 late during the 2nd quarter.
“We haven’t scored this well in an opening game in a while,” Head JV Coach Jimmy Chamberlin said. “We had good looks early overall in knocking it down.”
CL had several players with a high basketball IQ which will play well as this season matures. That IQ will translate in wins even if the team is not hitting a percentage of shots. Which was the situation on this night.
Marley Carrizales started her Senior Year scoring 18 points in win over Poteet, 46-22.

Canyon Lake was a no-show in their game with Liberty Hill as the Hawks closed out their regular season with a resounding defeat at the hands of the Panthers, 31-7.
