Hawks End Season on a High Note Beating Bandera, 13-3

Hawks Finish Season with a, 13-3 win over Bandera.

Canyon Lake’s Baseball finished their season run-ruling Bandera, 13-3 as these Hawks scored in all 5 innings and finished with a walk-off win when Tanner House scored from 3rd on a bases loaded walk by Dru Ingals.

                 Way to Go Hawks!!

The Hawks started this game with a 1-0 lead on a Carter Williams sacrifice fly that brought in Luke Roskin who had reached base earlier on an error.

These Bulldogs would respond in the 2nd scoring two runs which would be their short lived lead for these visitors, 2-1.

In the bottom of that same frame, Hawk Catcher Michael Anderson, would clear the bases on a double that would become the game winning hit and an eventual win.

Bandera helped CL’s cause recording 7 errors that kept the pressure on these Bulldogs throughout the contest.

Carter Williams had a two-run homer and a Tanner House double that hit first base and jetted to foul territory allowing, a taking it to the House for CL’s second double in this 5 inning blow-out.

Williams pitched out of a couple of jams and gave up just 3 hits for his 3rd win of the season.

Williams also had a hit that had the Left & Center fielder’s watching like everyone else in the stands as there was no need to run for a catch of this 2-run homer.

It was an up and down season for a Hawk team that had some impressive wins but had 7 consecutive games by scoring 2 or less runs which proved to be their downfall for a chance of making the post-season.

As bad as that streak was….Canyon Lake book-ended those set-backs with two wins against top 10 schools Davenport (9-2) and Boerne (10-6). In fact, The Lake, would have a victory over every team in district.

With an early exit CL can now go to work for getting back on track for another try next season.

Canyon Lake ‘Hawk’ Proud!!

On beating everyone in district Coach Escamilla responded, “Yes we did…but I think the biggest part was that we were riding Luke’s (Roskin) coattails, he beat everybody in our district and when he was on the mound we had a chance to beat anybody and we had just enough hitting when he was out there. We trusted in Luke and he did a great job.”

Coach Escamilla shared on the goings on during CL’s bad stretch (7 game losing streak), “For one we lost two arms and you might say that was not offense but that changes your dynamics defensively…and we lost our #2 and #3 for a good stretch right in the middle of district and I felt that cost us and we also made some changes offensively because what we were doing wasn’t producing so we made some changes and I think we saw the benefit because of that.”
