Canyon Lake’s Freshman Volleyball squad wins District 28-4A in grand fashion in sweep of Bandera for the season finale.

As far as this group of Freshman play, their games usually involve some form of drama but on this final night for the season, a Hawk win was a sweep without much resistance.

Resistance was ‘futile’, taking a little Star Trek the Next Generation lingo for the parents.

You can tell one thing is pretty clear with this group as they do not like to lose and with a loss in their last game with Fredericksburg, getting that game out of their system was accomplished with a, 25-16 and 25-15 sweep.

CL Hawks finish regular season with a win over Bandera that will pit their next round in the playoffs with Wimberley. The place and time will be announced later this week as Canyon Lake finished district play in second place with this win over the Bulldogs.

Good times with a chance of beating the Texans in something that they excel in with all of their past State Championships.

In the game with Bandera, the Hawks were coming off a lethargic game with Fredericksburg last Friday that put this game with the Bulldogs for a battle to see who would garner the 2nd seed of District 28-4A.

“This was especially sweet after the Fredericksburg game,” Head Coach Kim Paisley said. “We needed to win like this to carry over into the playoffs…..I wanted us to go strong into the playoffs.”

The Battlin’ Billies lived up to their name last night when the Lady Hawks flew into town by clearing the court of feathers in three straight games, 25-20, 25-21, 25-11.

The Hawks could not seem to move the score ahead of the Billies and played each game from behind. At one point in the second game they went ahead by one point off and on, which gave hope that they might pull out a win. However, a win was just not meant to be.

Canyon Lake Broadcasting’s Future

The idea was a simple one as we started thinking through the next phase of having the students at Canyon Lake highlighted in a market that leaves CL in the dark for the most part.

Yes, the New Braunfels’ paper covers the Hawks but for obvious reasons this paper has many other schools that are much larger that demands their attention.

Hence, The ReSporter and now Canyon Lake Broadcasting (CBL) is in their first year of working football games for the Hawk Nation.

Head Volleyball Coach Kim Paisley

The Hawk Volleyball Team will have this Tuesday off, so The ReSporter caught up with Head Coach Kim Paisley for a Coaches Corner to help fill the void of not having a game.

The ReSporter: How and where do you assess this Hawk team as you prepare for the next two weeks?

Coach Paisley: “We have taken care of business with 2 road matches in Boerne and Bandera, took care of the Owls at home, and fell short to the Billies in a grueling, exciting 5 set match at home. We are hungry and  focused on continuing our ride down the road to 1st in district (even if that means co-district champs). We need to keep the intensity and carry momentum from the first round into this second round starting Friday with Boerne.”

Coach Paisley continued, “We are sitting in 2nd to close out the the 1st round, and the pressure will be on the Billies when we go to their gym. We will be ready for them.”
